Times Tables

Times tables and related facts underpin so many areas of maths, such as finding fractions of amounts, factors, grid method multiplication, division calculations, money problems and percentages.

Below are some recommended Apps and Websites.

At New Scotland Hill Primary, we want to support children to achieve the best possible outcome. We have listened to the parents, who have asked for examples of the times table challenges that we set weekly from Year 2 upwards.

There are 12 levels, with each one adding a new times table. The times tables for each level is shown below;

From Level 4 onwards, there are two sub-levels. The first has multiplication questions only, and the second has both multiplication and division questions. Children are given 3 minutes to complete as much of the level as they can. Children move up to the next level when they can answer all the questions correctly, within 3 minutes. This is in line with the new national times table assessment given in Year 4, where children have 6 seconds to answer each question given in a range of times table questions, up to 12 x 12.
